  11. i'm having a problem with my computer that nobody seems to be able to 
  12. fix. i've taken my computer into the shop 3 or 4 times now, and i'm just 
  13. about to give up.
  14. the problem originally started when my IO card suddenly stopped working . 
  15. i was not able to dial with the modem. i switched com ports and the other 
  16. one wordked. so it was obviously the com port.
  17. i took the machine into the place i bought it, and told them to replace 
  18. the io card. they said they didn't have one with high speed ports and 
  19. that they'd have to order some in.
  20. when they got some in, they wouldn't work for some reason too..
  21. so they finally got one in, that they said worked.
  22. i took the machine home, and plugged it in, but it still didn't work as 
  23. well as it was  origininally...it would not connect at 288. and when it 
  24. did, there were a bunch of errors.
  25. so i took the computer in again.
  26. this time they installed a new io card which they said worked. they 
  27. tested the modem too, and said it worked.
  28. but this time i'm not in town to test the machine myself (i'm on co-op), 
  29. so my dad was testing it.
  30. he said that the modem connects, but will only connect at 1200 baud.
  31. even though the terminal program and slip/ppp dilaer are set up to 
  32. connect at the highest speed.
  33. does this look like a com port problem or a modem problemwhat's a good 
  34. way of testing it?
  35. my dad is ready to hire an OS2 expert..but i don't want him to spend
  36. big bucks, when it could still be a problem with the hardware.
